TextForge

The offline workbench for everything you'd paste into an online tool — decode a JWT, chain transforms into a saved recipe, convert or hash anything — without a byte leaving your machine.

Windows desktop app (.exe) US$20 · one-time

TextForge is the private, local replacement for the dozen "online tools" developers reach for every day: decode a JWT, format JSON, convert Base64, diff two texts, hash a download, clean a messy list. The difference is that nothing ever leaves your machine — so you can safely decode a token, pretty-print a config full of secrets, or convert a customer CSV without handing it to a website that might log it. Paste into the two-pane Workbench, click a transform — or run a whole pipeline — and read the result instantly, with a live status bar tracking characters, words, lines, and bytes.

Build a recipe once and reuse it forever: chain transforms into a saved sequence — trim → deduplicate → sort → Base64 — and re-run it on any input with one click. Paste something and TextForge offers the likely next step ("looks like a JWT — Decode?"). Run a transform across an entire file, or stream-hash a binary. Test a regular expression live with a running match count and capture groups. Forty-plus transforms, reusable snippets, and saved recipes — all offline, in a single local file you fully control.

What it does

  • Pipelines / recipes — chain transforms into a saved sequence (trim → dedupe → sort → Base64) and re-run on any input with one click
  • Developer transforms — decode JWTs, convert Unix timestamps ↔ dates, switch numbers between decimal / hex / binary / octal, and diff two texts
  • Convert between JSON, YAML, XML, and CSV, and pretty-print, minify, or validate JSON with clear, located error messages
  • Auto-detect — paste anything and TextForge suggests the likely action (Base64, JWT, JSON, URL-encoding, timestamp) for one click
  • File mode — hash any file (works on binaries and multi-gigabyte files) or run a transform across a whole file, written straight to disk
  • Hashing & keys — MD5 / SHA-1 / SHA-256, keyed HMAC, a combined hash report, and random UUIDs
  • Live regex tester — the match count and the first match's capture groups update as you type, with graceful invalid-pattern reporting
  • Private by design — every transform runs offline with no accounts and no network, so secrets and customer data never touch a third-party site; snippets and recipes live in one local file you control
